So many sweet shops all over the UK have changed in many ways and many people are being affected by these changes in a good way but also bad, but why do we have such an addiction so something so little

 
Children in this earar don’t really understand the effects sweets can have on your teeth British researchers have found that over the past few years there were more than five hundred and seventeen thousand children with dental conditions

 
Sports performers such as gymnasts have to think about their diets and they amount of sweets they eat to ensure that they achieve their goals

 
Keeping a balanced diet is very important and not many people realise how much it can affect your life style

 
Although sweets have changed in many ways people still enjoy them as much as ever even though many people need to keep a healthy diet a sneaky treat every now and then won’t harm you Dentists allow you to treat yourself but you should take care of your teeth as well as your hunger.

filming the sweet shop

As a group we went to a sweet shoop names 'Sweet Image' where we intrviewed the shop owner. The interview went really well even though she was very nervous. Our only problem was the failing of the microphone working which once we realised what had happened was resolved and the iterview went on. Also at our interview we were allowed to look around the shop and take many different photographs of the different sweets they offered. Both shop owners were really helpful and welcoming and gave us some free sweets and chocolates to help us further with out documentary.

Conclusion:
The results that came back from the first question was pretty clear, we asked people from the ages of 20-40 to answer our questionnaire, and the age that appeared the most was 20-25 year old, this gives us a clue on what age it is we need to focus our documentary on. The next question was about gender, there were more female to answer the questionnaire then men, so again our results tell us that we need to base our documentary on women and what they like. However there will be aspects to the documentary that will possibly appeal to some men.

The next question we asked was do you buy sweets? only three people said no and the other 27 said yes this allows us to go ahead with the idea of having a documentary on sweets, but it also show that we can have conflict in our documentary because we can talk to those who do like them and who doesn't like them.
The next question was asking if they were diabetic, only one person said yes, but it will still be a good idea to talk about this in our documentary as we can ask them about what types of sweets they buy etc.

The next question was how often do you buy sweets, 13 people said every week this was what people said the most, the least voted was every year, only 2 people said this. The next question was how much do you spend on sweets? The majority of people said that they spent £1 - £2 and the least amount spent on sweets was £5 or other. This will allow us to talk about how the prices have changed throughout the years, which links with the next question. We asked do you think sweet have changed since you were younger, 53% of people said yes to this question. The next question was do you think the prices have changed since you were younger, 28 people said yes.

We asked people what their favourite sweet were and we had many different types of sweets given to us, some that are old and some that are new. The top three colours that were chosen most for the documentary were red, pink and blue. We also asked what songs do they think are associated with sweets the majority said 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' songs, and 'Candy Man' by Christina Aguilera.

We asked the audience if they would prefer a male or female voice over, 22 people said female, 2 said male and another two said either they didn’t mind, one person actually said if depends on what is being talked about.

We asked if they liked the original 1971 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film' the majority of people said yes, one person said they liked it because the songs were really catchy. 4 people said no, one person said because it looked fake and was over exaggerated. We asked the audience if the film had any influence on them liking sweets 11 people said yes "I liked the idea of a chocolate fountain" and 19 people said no "I already like sweet".

We asked the audience if they watched documentaries 53% said yes and 47% said that they did not. However we asked if they would watch a documentary on sweets, on channel 4 at 8 O'clock and 22 people said yes and 8 people said no. This tells us that are able to run it at this time on this channel.

Our last question was how regularly do you go to the dentist? most people said every six months and the least said was every month and other. This tells us that it would be good to interview a dentist as it allows us to find out how many people they see every six months.

Watershed

The term watershed is when a specific programme is not allowed to be played before then because it may have swearing in or sexual scenes it’s basically looking after the younger generation the time for the watershed is 9pm.

PREECHO

This is when they schedule a programme before a popular one so the audience will catch the end of the new programme.

HAMMOKING

This is when they put a programme between two popular ones this will hopefully attract a good target audience.

NEW TECHNOLIGIES

Remote controls have made a huge difference because now more channels are being watched as you can turn over your channel from sitting on your bed/couch etc this is because whilst an advert is on it is easier to flick over to the next channel this is called (channel hopping)

CHANNELLOYALTY

Until the 1980s there were only three channels. Cable, digital and satellite have totally changed the way in which we watch. In the 60s 70s and 80s was when people were actually loyal to their channels.

Throughout this task I found it fun and really exciting to make enjoyed working as part of a team which then give me the skills of trying new and different things as we all took it in turns to edit film and take pictures. We put together our documentary by getting photos creating new posters and interviewing people to find out what they would be like without a phone and weather they use it on an everyday basis.
 
the thing that went well in my group was that we all worked together as a team and come up with creative ideas for example I came up with the background jack came up with who we could film and Andrea came up with were we could film it, so all of our good ideas come together to make one really good documentary.
 
I did an evaluation on my documentary I made and found out that if I was to do the documentary again I would defiantly change a few things and the way I did some things.

For example
I think I could of had more cut always to back up more information, if I did it again I would make sure I got plenty more photographs so I could choose which ones I was going to use instead of just using the ones that I had as I didn’t have many.
 
I would definitely recommend using a tripod as when I and my group filmed we didn’t use one we forgot all about it so therefore are interview was very shaky as it was all hand held.
The framing we used was wrong as we placed her in front of good meson-scene but we didn’t sit her on the right side so she looked like she was on a funny angle she looked like she was talking to someone of the screen. So I would definitely change the framing of the shot if I did this task again
in our documentary we put music at the beginning and at the end instead of all the way through which made the interview nice and clear but there still should of been a music bed so if I did the task again I would create a music bed and fade it out slowly when she was talking and then ad it back in especially for the cutter ways.

I would also change the way we set out are cutter ways as I would make the cutter ways relevant to what she was talking about in the interview for example when she was talking about her ring tone then I would add a picture of music of something to do with her ringtone rather than just a picture of a mobile phone.

I also didn’t add any graphics witch I forgot all about because graphics are needed in most documentaries to tell the audience who is who and tell them what is going on its like a story line in a book etc.

And I could have played the ringtone whilst she was talking about her ringtone. To add abit of humour into the documentary!

On the flip side I and my group worked really well together and we did do some really good cuter ways to explain things we took some still images and cross faded them in.
Our interview went really well as well apart from the framing we also found a fun bubbly happy person to interview so she was really good for the documentary plus she has a really soft and clear voice so it went really well with the documentary.

our Miocene was really good as well as we decided to make a big poster full of phones to interview are person in front of, it was good because it told the audience what we were going to and what we were talking about, the pictures were good as it looked like we were sitting in a professional place.

the lighting we used was also natural lighting which is good because it looks like we haven’t set it up and it is also good for the filming so you can see the person we are filming properly and it does not affect the camera work.

My favourite part of the documentary is when at the beginning it introduces the audience with our title get smart it is a ringtone sound and it opens the whole thing. This was good because we edited the song lady gaga to make it sound like a ringtonE
 
 
 
overall working on this task I learnt allot of new skills of how to edit and what things I have to include in a documentary and I also think I could make a documentary on my own and use all of the soft ware as now I have had plenty of practise on it I find it allot easier to use.

"its good to talk"planning





Planning this task was fun but we as a group had to think about where we were going to do it, who we were going to film and what cut always we would do and all of this was very important to the documentary because otherwise it would not make a lot of sense.

In my group there was me Andrea and jack we started to think of all are ideas and compare them with each others different ones to come up with a great idea,

We decided we were going to film a happy friendly girl in front of a poster full of phones as the mise en scene. We decided we were going to print loads of mobile phone pictures and decided we were going to created a kologe of phones and stick them on a board then sit the person who we decided to interview in front of it

We decided we had to look at where we were going to frame her and which direction we would like her to face.

for the cut always we thought it would be a good idea if we filmed people using their mobile phones and took allot of still images of social networking sites mobile phones and big groups of people on their phones to show that they are popular we decided we wanted to use a lot of cut a ways as this would back up the information in the interview. We also thought it would break up all of the sections and wouldn’t make it boring.

We also decided that we were going to use a variety of different shots to make it more interesting in the interviews etc we also decided we would use a variety of different angles for the camera so it also didn’t get boring

We decided we were going to have a music track of telephone lady gaga as we thought it would go well with the documentary

Me and my group then decided to draw out are storyboard of what we wanted our documentary to look like and what sounds, cut aways, and images we wanted to use.

codes and conventions of filming and editing(8)

mise en scene reinforces the content of the interview this picture shows that he is being interviewed infront of the water as the documentary is all about jaws.


medium shots and close ups are used in the interviews this makes the audience feel like they are being talked to.

cutaways are used to brake up interviews and isolate what they are talking about most of the time cutaways back up what the voice of god or the person being interviews is saying.


in these documentaries the questions are editied out so you cant here the interviewers you just here the people being interviewed and the "voice of god"




these graphics are on both documentaries and they appear on almost every documentary this tells the audience who is who when they are being interviewd.



in the interviews they are framed to either the right or the left of the screen and they tend not to look at the audience as they are being interviewed so they dont look at the camera.




in the interviews they are always a third down the screen as they need to be seen and they are often in a close up or a medium close up.


they never film the interviews with light behind them for example a mirror or window as the light would effect the filming and not make it look clear for the audience.
